Short Answer:
Toastmasters helps you with your public speaking and leadership skills. It really does help by giving people the opportunity to speak and have their opinions heard. For leadership, it gives people the chance to manage a local club, a group of clubs and even clubs across a district.
It also has a nice way of bringing together serious and like-minded individuals (because you have to pay), so there’s a good chance you’re meeting people who are just as interested in improving their public speaking as you are.
Long Answer:
Toastmasters manuals will give you an idea of what you can do to improve your speaking skills if you haven’t had an education on them before. With a meeting every month and lots of opportunities for people to participate, you can get a lot of speaking time in front of an audience. (more…)
The Area P1 Speech Contest was held at our regular monthly meeting in March.
We were blessed with a number of visitors and a full program of Prepared Speeches, Evaluations, Table Topics and the Area P1 Speech Contest.
Roxanne Vale was chosen as the best CC Prepared Speech and Jason Sanders as Best Evaluation in our club. Best Table Topic Impromptu Speech went to Charmaine Lingard.

Norman Bellows had a very successful evening being judged as the Best Speech and the Best Evaluator in the Speech Contest.
Jo Holroyd placed second in the Speech Contest.

February saw our club hosting a most entertaining and successful Prepared Speaking and Evaluations Contest.
Congratulations to Norman Bellows for winning The Prepared Speaking Contest and to Wendy Syers for winning the Evaluation Contest.
Wendy also chaired the meeting and Eric Prinsloo present his CC5 speech in the club’s Prepared Speaking Session.
The new year got off to a bang! We had a wonderful turnout and all enjoyed a very entertaining and inspiring meeting.
